Marriage Proposal Ideas...

Marriage proposal ideas didn't come to me very easily. When I proposed it wasn't an elaborate setup and didn't seem that romantic. I proposed in a car with "our" song playing in the background.

We were both in college and didn't have much money to spare. I used all the money I could spare to by the ring that she fell in love with at first site. We had been casually shopping and talking about getting married after college (2 years later), when we happened upon a jewelery store in a local mall. It was amazing, she walked straight to a counter and pointed to the ring of her dreams.

We looked at that one and some others and left the store talking about how long it would be before we could get married because we wanted to wait until we were out of college. Later that day I called my mom and talked about whether I should purchase that ring or not. We talked about the seriousness of marriage and how BIG that commitment was. Then we walked though the expenses of schooling and whether I could finish with the money I had and income from my job.

To make a short story LONG, I went back and purchased the ring! Was I out of my mind? I still had over a year of college left. A few weeks later when we were back home for a weekend, I made a little visit to her parents and ask them if I could marry their daughter. I think I caught them off guard in a good way. I don't think that my future brother - in - laws had ever asked them that question. After they had a moment to think it over, I remember them saying that it really wasn't up to them.

I did make one promise to them. We would both finish college before the wedding. (I kept that promise!)

Shortly after that conversation with her parents, I picked her up for a date night, and asked her to marry me in the car. Yes, I would like to do it over again with a better marriage proposal idea. We have been married for over 18 years and she is still the love of my life.

For our twentieth anniversary I am planning on doing more research on marriage proposal ideas. The internet is a great way to do research. That just wasn't available when I proposed the first time. I have stumbled upon a couple of good books and one especially, Romantics Guide To Popping The Question.

With some good planning I hope to make my second shot at a marriage proposal, a fantastic one. Hopefully this has helped you, so you won't look back after a couple of years like I have with a little regret. Our marriage gets stronger every day, which I guess it the most important thing.

Take my advise and do a little homework. Your idea doesn't necessarily have to be original. Make it fit your personality.

Stay tuned as I walk through the process of how I am going to ask her the second time around!

By the way, if you have some great marriage proposal ideas, please let me know! I can use all the help I can get.

My proposal was a great idea that got better because of unforseen circumstances.
We were on a weekend vacation to Niagara Falls (Ontario) with my brother and his girlfriend. The original plan was to ask her right near the overlook area and keep what was going on between the four of us. The problem was that it started pouring rain. My brother looked at me like "what do we do now?" I quickly made the decision that the show must go on!
While several hundred people were finding shelter under the canopies nearby, my brother drew everyone's attention by announcing that I had something to say to my girlfriend. On cue, I said what an amazing girl she was and got down on one knee. She said yes, and the crowd roared their approval. It was as if the stage had been cleared, by the rain, for the main attraction.
Good luck!
